Visual merchandising includes the need to calculate the best places to put displays so that maximum number of people can see them.

Strong visual merchandising has a huge impact on customer experience in your store. If you’re creating your retail displays then use the following strategies to achieve more impactful and memorable visual merchandising.

Color is King –

Color combination can be a key to make or break your visual displays. An ineffective display can look great if the colors coordinate well. Consider using contrasting colors, like black and white, and monochromatic colors–both create eye-catching displays. So use color to catch the eyes of your customers and draw them to your displays.

Create a Focal Point –

Do customer’s eyes move toward a specific location on the display? Or are they confused about where to look? Then you must create a focal point in the display. Examine your display from the customer’s point of view. And decide the appropriate placement of the focal point so that customers can easily view the hotspots and merchandise.

Tell a Story-

No customer will come to your store until he/she found something interested or beneficial. Therefore you must display the advantages of buying the product. Show them why they should buy your product and how their life will become easier with it. By telling a story, you help the customer to better understand the product and enable the buying decision.

Maximum Expose of Merchandise-

A well-designed, impactful display exposes the customer to as much merchandise as possible while avoiding a sloppy mess. The more products customers see, the more they buy. Where your store does use aisles, place a display in the dead center so customers are forced to stop and look at the products. Have as many displays as possible, and present as much merchandise as possible. But keep displays clean and sharp, and ensure aisles are spacious and barrier-free to prevent deterring customers from products.

Visual merchandising

Utilize Empty Space-

You might have seen in all retail stores there is a space that is the most underutilized. It’s the section between the displayed merchandise and the ceiling. If this space in your store is empty, you need to start using it.

Decorate this space for many different things, like signage providing information about products or brands. You could display customer testimonials with the customer’s name and picture. You could profile a designer or supplier. It can be a great idea to display a lifestyle graphic that helps customers make associations with your products

Visual merchandising has hundred of ideas which retailer can use when designing displays. Use them to make your store as memorable as possible.
